Did You Know: Advanced GPS rangefinder
Each week, we offer tips, tricks and best practices to the community so that our users can get the most out of the Arccos platform. This week, we examine Advanced GPS.
What is Advanced GPS?
Consider it local knowledge in your hand. Our advanced GPS capabilities make it incredibly easy to manage a course thanks to improved distance measuring and zooming.
The key to Advanced GPS is the app's rangefinder function, which provides you with distance to any location on a hole while simultaneously providing the distance remaining to the green from that spot.
Picture this: you’re facing a dogleg-right par-4. You’re considering hitting driver to cut the corner and give yourself a short approach. Using your Arccos app, however, you learn that there are two fairway bunkers that come into play at 260 yards out (also, thanks to Arccos, you know that’s your average driving distance). You elect to hit an iron off the tee and settle for a 140-yard shot for an approach.
The new rangefinder gives you accurate distances for every shot — and the next one! — in the palm of your hand.
How do you use it?
To initiate the rangefinder function, simply press a location during play to prompt the accurate distance to and from.
The default setting is for the rangefinder to disappear as soon as you take your finger off of the screen but users can also choose to keep the rangefinder on their screen by toggling in the settings screen.
Additionally, users also get precise distances to the front, middle and back of each green by tapping the black rectangle in the top right of your screen while in-play.
